Excellent AR-15 Scope Mount!(20.08.2014)
Built a project AR-15 5.56 carbine, used this scope mount with a Vortex 3-9X40. Scope went right in, was perfect height. Fit and finish of the mount was great, held the scope tight with no issues at all. Tested at 100 yards at the range and was getting .89" groups (that's under 1 MOA) within the first ten rounds!
Mount comes with a Torx wrench to use on the screws, which are ALL the same size, a nice detail.
I plan to use the same mount the next time!
Very Nice Mount(14.04.2015)
Mounted on a RRA barreled for 6.5 Grendel. This will be the only AR mount I buy in the future. It is light, solid, simple, not to pricy and the quality of the manufacturing is outstanding. It will cant your leveled scope a tad as you tighten the ring screws, just a few readjusting sequences to get it dead level and it is good forever. That seems hardly worth a mention to me because I almost always have the same experience during all scope mounting operations regardless of make of the rings.
Aero quality, Design needs work(27.11.2015)
The overall construction quality is good. This is my first single-piece mount.
Aero now has a torque spec of 15-25 in-lbs/screw. When torquing to spec, the scope is canted clockwise (looking into the eyepiece). I found that completely loosening and retightening caused the scope to be further corrected, so my method of aligning was to overcorrect for the cant and keep retightening until the scope was level (using a Wheeler 2-piece leveling kit).
This ratcheting effect is due to the tolerancing on the gladhand-like locking design at the top of the rings. Torquing down the screws at the base causes the rings to lock together, with a relatively large amount of slipping, causing one side of the rings to slip and pull the scope. Mounts with screws on opposite sides of the scope probably don't have as much as an issue.
The mount is lightweight and very economical, when compared to other single-piece mounts.
If you are looking for a mount to attach a scope that is used for hunting or anything that is done without dialing the scope much, this should do well. However, if you are using a precision rifle, I would suggest getting Leupold Mark 4 Super high rings, if you have enough of a rail to comfortably place your scope. If you want a single piece that quickly detaches, then I suggest saving up for a mount with quick release levers, such as the LaRue mounts.
I have a slight cant in my scope after working on it for about half an hour. I don't like the inability to fine-tune the scope, so I will replace it when I start dialing in shots over 600 yards with the LR308 platform it is on. For anything less technical, this is an awesome mount. If/when I build an AR15 for 3-gun, I will definitely reuse this mount.
However, with similarly-priced mounts having different ring design, I cannot recommend this mount over others.
perfect for a lightweight rifle(07.01.2017)
It helps keep an AR lightweight for hunting or carrying. It seems like the advantage of the AR being light is lost on many gear-kommandos.
It also has integral recoil lugs built into the mount which is nice. Holds zero and has had no changes when removed. Returned to the same tightness by marking index points on mount/screw.
