Excellent training tool(10.02.2013)
Ready to go right out of the box. Reasonable price for a Glock simulator with a reset trigger. Videos that come with it are VERY useful in teaching grip, trigger control and stance. Will use them in my classes.Works great with the OCAT System laser simulator target system. My only gripe is the weight is much less than a regular Glock. The weighted magazine is right on, but the slide area could use more weight.
Trigger no longer "breaks"(13.01.2018)
I bought a SIRT Performer about two years ago in preparation for the next season of matches. When I first got it, I measured the trigger pull at about 7 pounds, which I left alone thinking it would be like strength training. The triggers are adjustable.
I'm now noticing that the trigger no longer has much of a "break" to it. It's more like 3/8" inches of mushy travel. If I pull very slowly, I can feel a little bit of a hitch in it. It's hard for me to measure the pull weight, because it's hard to know where to stop pulling, but I think it's a little under four and a half pounds. It is still somewhat useful for target transitions, but it is a disappointment that the trigger has let go.
Not entirely related, but I bought a bunch of extra SIRT magazines. Glock magazines fit too snugly to drop free from the SIRT pistol. I bought 5 from Next Level Training, and 2 would not catch properly in the SIRT pistol, and another would come out with a moderate shake without touching the magazine catch. They can be fixed with a bit of epoxy and a file, but I don't think I should have to tune a magazine with no moving parts to get them to work properly. The magazines are about the same price as quality aftermarket Glock magazines, but only if you buy 3 at a time, single magazines are about the same price as Glock magazines for a plastic shell with steel weights.
It's also a bit disappointing that the slide stop and slide do not move at all, which limits realistic reloading and malfunction clearance training.
