Takes The Frustration Out Of Installing This Critical Part
Compact tool makes the tricky process of installing the pivot pin fast and easy by eliminating the need to apply pressure from two different planes while guiding the pin into the ears of the lower receiver. Puts an end to accidentally launching the spring and detent across the room while installing the pivot pin. Precision machined aluminum block and steel retaining pin fit between the pivot pin ears of the lower receiver to allow easy insertion of the pivot pin detent spring and detent, then keeps them in place while inserting the pivot pin. So simple, we wonder why nobody thought of this years ago!

You need to have one of these.(17.11.2009)
If you have to remove or install the forward push pin on an AR 15 this is the tool you need to have. It makes it so easy and you will never have to look for a launched push pin detent again. Worth it's weight in gold.
Great tool(03.07.2010)
Awesome tool. I tried installing the detent and spring without it and spent 45 frustrating minutes at it. This tool works great, and I would definitely recommend it.
My only criticism is the product description should say a 3/32" pin punch is needed. I ground down a finish nail and used it, but a punch would have been easier.
Great Tool(19.11.2011)
A very practical functional tool. No more launched detents and springs.
OUTSTANDING TOOL(28.01.2012)
A must have if you going to work on the pivot pin on your Ar-15.
had to rework tool(31.03.2012)
hade to spend major time reworking this tool in order to get it to work-no way would i buy it again=would buy the other tool for pin an install
Not as good as it seems(12.08.2012)
I have tried this tool on 5 different AR's...wont work. Need to redrill the pivot pin hole or something...maybe send it back.
AR Pivot Pin Tool - Aces(30.08.2012)
I've used every manual technique and all the simple Pivot Pin tools, and nothing beats this unit.
If you do one or two ARs a month, any method is fine. But if you are a serious AR builder, this tool solves all the shortcomming of all the other tools and techniques.
Works great, no more lost pins!(23.09.2012)
Works as advertised. Very simple. Its a little expensive but it is overbuilt and should last a lifetime.
biggest piece of junk ever(23.10.2012)
this thing was completely out of spec and did not even come close to working on my milspec stag lower. Even after modifying the tool it was still useless.Used brownells pivot pin detent tool and job was done in 10 seconds. Biggest piece of junk i ever bought from brownells
works as advertised(03.12.2012)
Worked fine with my Spike's Tactical lower. Had to do some minor fiddling to get it aligned with the pivot pin holes in the lower but from there it was easy.
Falls short!(07.12.2012)
With the number of AR's that we work on, we thought this tool would make assembly faster. Well, if it was made right it would. Of all the various branded lowers we work on, this tool fits less than 10% of them. After a few modifications the tool works great. Back to the "Drawing Board".
Doesn't Work(30.07.2013)
The instructions say it's designed for military lowers and must be adapted to civilian lowers. I thought they were all Mil-Spec. Use a 1/4" clevis pin. It works the same way is less than $2.00 from the local hardware store.
Doesn't work with all aftermarket lowers(13.08.2014)
Tool idea is great, unfortunately it didn't fully work as intended with my lower receiver. I have a MAG Tactical lower and it's slightly thicker in the ears where the pivot pin installs so the tool won't fully slide in-between where it should. So I just used the pin that came with it in the same fashion you would with the whole tool. So in a sense it did help, but just not n the way it fully should have. Will hold on to it for future builds.
Donât waste your $ on this oneâ¦(09.12.2014)
Donât waste your $ on this oneâ¦
Working on my 2nd build now and this tool did not fit either of my lowers (Arma Lite & Anderson). I had to file the heck out of the red body so it would fit around the pivot pin ears of lower unit. Then once I got that part to fit the steel rods knurled end was to large in diameter to allow the pin to be inserted far enough to reach the far right side of receiver where the plunger & spring needs to be inserted into lower.
If this so called tool has a pro it may be that it could help the ham fisted from launching the spring and plunger across room if a slip occurred while inserting pivot pin in the pivot ears.
Like one Gent said "1/4 inch clevis pin from hardware store does the job nicely".
Frustrating......No, Maddening(09.02.2015)
I recentlyn decided to build 4 ARs. Was successful in all of them. Thought this tool would help with installing the pivot pin. It doesn't fit an Anderson AR-15. Don't get it - it is a waste of money. I am surprised that there are a few 5.0 users on this comments section. I must have tried to make it work for 2-3 hours or longer - if nothing else, I was persistent - the pin would never index correctly between the two knubs of that front pivot pin. It looked like it was close to fitting but no matter what I did, it never indexed - just bound up and got stuck. Finally, I used a single edged box cutter razor blade to mash down the spring and detent.....then I got the pin to slide in and the job was done.......a razor blade. Who would have thought?
Use it on the right make of rifle(15.05.2015)
Everyone that is complaining about wasting money on this because it doesn't work needs to understand that this tool is made for Colt rifles. Not all ARs are the same. Only Colt and FN have the actual military blueprints on the rifle. Even Armalite builds them from reverse engineering. So all the others may or may not work with this part. You may get lucky, or not. It works on the 30 different colts we built in armorer school and also on my PSA and Bushmaster. If your rifle will work with it, then get it. It works far better than the other methods, I've used them all on the other guns I've built.
DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL(01.03.2016)
Been building ARs for over 20 yrs. I've always used a 1/4" Clevis pin. They run anywhere from 50 cents to a coupe dollars at any hardware store. Why spend $30 on this tool? Waste of your hard earned money, imo.
