Fully-machined from bar stock, then heat treated and hardened for fail-proof durability. Radiused corners won t catch on holsters or clothing. Thumb pad extends slightly at a 90° angle for increased leverage and faster, more positive engagement. Maximum-diameter pin increases barrel lockup.

Great Product (30.08.2010)

Typical Wilson quality. Installed this in my Taurus 1911. Slide lock up and release are much better. Judging by the quality it will probably go in my next 1911 after I wear this one out. I highly recommend this product.

Best Slide Stop for your 1911 (28.08.2011)

I bought this to replace my the factory slide stop on my Kimber TLEII. This one will never cause your slide to lock while cycling through a magazine. Very sleek on the gun as well. Fantastic product.

Did not fix the problem (10.04.2012)

Did not correct the premature slide lock problem on my kimber 1911 as advertised. Would recommend have gunsmith fit your current slide stop rather than spend the money on this.

I've been shooting 1911s since 1967. Over the years I've accumulated a collection of broken 1911 slide stops. Since they first became available when this has happened I've put in Wilson Bullet Proof slide stops, and I've never broken one of them.

Additionally the shaft is close to .200 diameter and aids barrel fit and lock up. They're not MIM or cast or even forged but machined and then hardened.

Several of my 1911s have several "Bullet Proof" parts in them.

Typical Wilson quality. I installed this on a Springfield RO and it dropped right in with absolutely no problems. Locks up perfectly and very positive during those accidental slide-lock reloads.

Do Not Buy (02.08.2013)

In preparation for Gunsite's 250 pistol course, I replaced the OEM slide stop on my Colt 1911 .45 ACP with Wilson Bullet Proof stainless steel slide stop The Wilson let me down during the course. The lug that goes through the frame window became peened. I have been shooting 1911s for over 40 years and I have never had this happen before. More significantly, on one occasion, the slide stop slightly drifted out the left side of the frame. This caused a catastrophic malfunction, totally locking up my pistol. I had to leavae the shooting line to have it addressed. Finally, the finish of Wilson Bullet Proof slide stop became mottled and discolored. In short, this product failed me. I was so disappointed that I returned it to Brownells for a refund and reinstalled my OEM Colt slide stop.

This is the second one of these I bought.

I can live with the tool marks, but this one shipped with a gouge covering a third of the catch on the top of it. Wilson clearly does no qc on thier parts anymore.

**Semi-extended** BP SS slide stop (08.03.2017)

Ordered this for my Gold Cup Trophy ... even tho I've got big hands, I've always found that working the slide catch takes too much in-hand repo-ing to be really comfy, but I've never liked the feel (or look) of the really extended ones.

Took a chance & special-ordered the Semi-extended Bullet Proof slide stop & am super pleased ... it's gives just the perfect (for me) extension and is -- moreover -- just beautifully designed: it just looks beautiful on the pistol. The finish is kind of a semi-shiny matte, which should fit in with many other guns' furnishings. (It was a special order thru Brownells, who did their usual really efficient work.)
